Comedian Dave Chappelle is out of hiding, for a little while at least, and is touring the United States. He will be stopping in the Tampa Bay area with four shows at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 13, and another two on Tues., April 14, at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
A working comedian since he was a teenager, Chappelle made his film debut at 19 in the Mel Brooks' directed Robin Hood: Men in Tights. He later blew up thanks to his Comedy Central hit Chappelle's Show. In the middle of shooting Season 3, Chappelle left for South Africa, giving up the Prince impressions, the show and the Hollywood lifestyle. These days he tours occasionally and lives on a 65-acre farm outside of Yellowsprings, Ohio, far away from Hollywood.
If you decide to go see him in concert, please don’t yell out “I’m Rick James, Bitch” or any other of his classic quotes from his show or the equally quotable Half Baked. Chappelle's the comedian, he does not need your help. Let the past go and let him run the show. For more info and tickets, visit RuthEckerdHall.com.
