Do It Today: Crossing the Line opens at HCC Ybor, I Am Ghost at Orpheum, Between the Buried and Me at State Theatre

you have a couple (undoubtedly cooler) options in live music tonight. First up: I Am Ghost at the Orphem. Established in 2004 and signed by Epitaph Records in 2006, Long Beach, California’s I Am Ghost were rockin’ the gothic rock sound until the departure of vocalist/violinist Kerith Telestai and husband/bassist/keyboardist Brian in 2007 due to creative differences. With the addition of bass player/vocalist Ron Ficarro, and without violin, keys and a female vocalist, the band headed into darker post-hardcore and screamo territory with 2008’s Those We Leave Behind. If you're on the other side of the Bay, check out the sounds of 10-year-old metal makers Between the Buried and Me, marked by prog rock guitar solos and shredding, fast and heavy syncopated rhythms, and a lead screamer who draws deep from the gut. Vocalist Tommy Rogers described the band's 2009 album, The Great Misdirect, as “some of the best material we've ever created.” Cynic, Devin Townsend and Scale the Summit open.
