AIA Tampa Bay teams up with the Florida Museum of Photographic Art to present an Architecture and Film Night featuring Visual Acoustics, a documentary about acclaimed architectural photographer Julius Shulman.
Attend a free Reception from 6 to 7 p.m., which includes hors d'oeuvres and drinks. Movie starts at 7 p.m. and is 83 minutes long.
Narrated by Dustin Hoffman, Visual Acoustics celebrates the life and career of the worlds greatest architectural photographer, whose images brought modern architecture to the American mainstream.
Shulman, who passed away this year, captured the work of nearly every modern and progressive architect since the 1930s, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Richard Neutra, John Lautner and Frank Gehry.
Shulman's images captured the beauty of Southern Californias modernist movement and brought its iconic structures to the attention of the general public. The film is not just a testament to the evolution of modern architecture but a "joyful portrait of the magnetic, whip-smart gentleman who chronicled it with his unforgettable images."
