Do It Today: Fun at the Orpheum, Karaoke Night at the Refinery and Florida Craftsmen's My Wish List Soiree

Brr, it's cold! Add some heat to your Tuesday-Bluesday with some music, dancing, singing and art.

For starters, if it's  Fun you're after, head to the Orpheum in Ybor City.

Really, how can you really go wrong with a band name that has a built-in good time?

The band, which includes Nate Ruess (formerly of The Format), ex-Anathallo multi-instrumentalist Andrew Dost and Steel Train's Jack Antonoff. They released their debut, Aim and Ignite, in 2009, and cite influences ranging from Broadway to The Beach Boys to Henry Nilsson to Weezer, and generally produce grin-inducing freewheeling songs like the cheerful Afro-pop influenced single, “Walking the Dog,” which comes complete with some “nah nah nahs” and a charming retrofied neon-dazzled video. Openers Steel Train and the Postelles get the poppy fun started before Fun. (Contributed by Leilani Polk)

Doors are at 7 p.m. The Orpheum is at 1902 Republica de Cuba Ave., Ybor City. All ages. $15.50.Buy tickets at DaddyKool.com.

Sometimes singing your head off — regardless of how good or bad you sound — can prove to be therapeutic. Undergo outlandish vocal-expression self-help rejuvenation (even at the risk of injury to others) at It's You, But Louder: Karaoke Night at The Refinery.

Nothing can turn your frown upside down like an ass-making night of karaoke. It's the ideal karaoke night for those tired of hearing the same sad couple singing “Paradise by the Dashboard Light” and want food that’s superior to the wings at your local sports bar — something more, um, refined.

On karaoke night (every other Tuesday), Refinery owners Michelle and Greg Baker post specials to ease the recession pain, and DJ Stevan Polansky caters to hipsterish types with a 10,000-plus list that includes such unlikely (for karaoke) hits as the raunchy “Becky” by Plies, MGMT’s “Kids,” Vampire Weekend’s “Cousins" and Kraftwerk’s “The Model.”

8 p.m., Refinery, 137 N. Florida Ave., Tampa, thetamparefinery.com.

My Wish List … The annual holiday boutique at Florida Craftsmen Gallery features the work of more than 300 member artists — glass, clay, metal, wood, fiber, mixed media, jewelry and wearable art. This evening at 5:30 p.m., the gallery hosts the My Wish List Soiree, an event that includes wine, Aveda spa treatments, free giveaways and the opportunity to fill out your own wish list.
