Burbank's Lovehatehero (pictured, photo by Daniel Dare) has been slashing out surprisingly hooky emo-to-screamo since the early '00's, with more recent material trending more toward the melodic end of the spectrum. Tourmates Young & Divine hail from Albany, and do that sort of almost-generic post-emo hard-pop that every band seems to infuse with just enough originality to allow the all-ages crowd to tell them apart. It's a neat trick, really. As for The Venetia Fair, they're from Boston and their shit is a crazy mix of hardcore, avant noise, old Euro/gypsy vibes, horns, pounded pianos, you name it, and that's just The Ringleader — A Man Like Me sounds like Every Time I Die on helium.
