Do It Today: (Really) old-fashioned holiday events on both sides of the bay

Take a trip around the world and back in time by way of the Baltimore Consort, who performs a Christmas concert of early music (and later eras) from England, Scotland, France, Italy and Spain, at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Members of the acclaimed ensemble  play lute, flute, fife, recorder, crumhorn, cittern, viol, guitar and vocals.

Fast-forward a couple of centuries for another historical yuletide extravaganza, the Victorian Christmas Stroll at the University of Tampa's Henry B. Plant Museum.

Meander under the historic university's majestic minarets experience the holiday festivities of the late 1800s in the building’s previous incarnation as the Tampa Bay Hotel. Tour includes complimentary cookies, spiced cider and carolers (evenings only) and an 18-foot tree that lights up the main hallway. A barbershop quartet sings Christmas classics by the ceiling-high tree and each room has a unique theme and has its own decorated Christmas tree.

UT is at 401 W. Kennedy Blvd., Tampa;  admission to the Victorian Christmas Stroll is $12, $10 and $6; 813-258-7302. Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center is at 324 Pine St., Tarpon Springs. 727-942-5605. Tickets to Baltimore Consort are $20, $18 for members and $12 for students.
