You’ve probably seen the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls at least a hundred times now, and you’ll likely continue to see it until a resolution is reached.
You can be a part of this movement this evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
As time passes since the abductions in Nigeria, with little progress towards a resolution, so does worldwide outrage —and attempts to bring more awareness to the situation.
Around 300 Nigerian girls were taken from a state-run boarding school in Chipok a few weeks ago by terrorist group Boko Haram. The Islamist extremist group, which has threatened to sell the girls into marriages and sex slavery, has carried out school-aimed attacks in the past.
Worldwide, governments and various organizations have stepped up to provide support and assistance in getting these girls home safely. The U.S. is on board with the efforts — Secretary of State John Kerry recently announced our sending of intelligent specialists to Nigeria in assistance of the search.
Nigerian USF Electrical Engineering student named Oalwale Ajayi has organized a rally here in Tampa in support of efforts aimed towards recovery of the girls. Ajayi invites all to wear red and attend the rally which will take place at the Museum of Fine Arts.
