End times good times

It's your last chance to party (or celebrate the Earth remaining intact).

The world as we know may be finito this Friday — an absurd yet scary assumption made by doomsayers who’ve latched onto loose interpretations of an ancient calendar.

Who knows, you may just have a few hours to live. What to do?

The End of the World Glow Party lights up the Flamingo Resort, 4601 34th St. S, St. Petersburg. The GLBT-friendly hotel's Blu Room will light up with a Glo Party with white attire suggested, fully blacked-out room (hey, no Rufies allowed!) — with glo items, glo drink specials and, yes, a glo drag show. Best of all, no cover, so you don't have to spend your last dime. Drummer Mike is the DJ (with or without percussion instruments), and the place gets lit at 11 p.m.

Best of the Bay-winning nightclub Barbarella, at the location of the old Frankie's Patio in Ybor, will be tying up loose party ends with its End of the World Party. The night includes its usual indie-dance tunes, drink specials, like free wells 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m., $2 Yuenglings all night and $2 wells 11 p.m.-close. No cover before midnight; 21 and older only pay $2 after midnight; 18-20 pay $5 all night.

Holiday shop and decompress from rapture anxiety at at Phoenix Glass Studio's End of the World Studio Celebration Fri., Dec. 21, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. for an “everything must go” sale with chair massages and yoga demonstrations. Complimentary food, drink and workshops will be served too.

A plethora of bands will be ringing in the would-be apocalypse Friday night. Venture to Orbit 19, up yonder in Holiday, when the Black Honkeys shake the dust off Pasco County with their big fat soul-funk sound.

Très Bien, Tampa Bay’s catchy Brit-Invasion-flavored popsters and finalist on a reality show, headlines an End of the World show at Local 662 (read Leilani’s Music Week for more).

On Saturday, wade through the fallout — or Pinellas snowbird traffic — to the Day After Doomsday Party at Two Lions Winery, where handcrafted wines and beer can be sampled. The beverage haven is at 2194 Main St., Dunedin.

So If you’re not busy crossing items off your bucket list, go out with a bang at one of these recommended sendoffs — or throw a bash of your own with the help of doomdsdayparty2012.com.
