It’s August — time for all good fashionistas to restock their closets for the fall season (even if fall doesn’t really happen around here till, oh, February).

The items you’ll want include peplum blazers, coats and vests; furs and leather; fitted dresses with an emphasis on the waist; bright reds and oranges; fur-trimmed shoes; colorful handbags; prints; layers.

But a word of warning. I know that the way a person dresses is a form of self-expression, and I’m all about that. But some of you (and you know who you are) express yourself in ways that are, well, disturbing. Your voice rings loud and clear. It says, "I wore my favorite pieces all at once."

The models on this page are pictured wearing four of my favorite trends: a bright-colored coat, handbag, pencil skirt and vest. But as you can see, fashion’s all about how you put it together — and that’s where it can get ugly.

The Good
You follow the trends and always look like you just walked off the runway. Kudos!

The Bad
You make one smart choice a season, but the ill-fitting, out-of-season pieces already in your closet overpower your one trendy purchase.

The Ugly You pile on the pieces with abandon, regardless of color, season or fit. Whole websites are devoted to people like you. But there’s one consolation — you either don’t know any better or ya just. don’t. care.
