While a seemingly never ending avalanche of coronavirus news continues to consume every waking moment of our existence, it’s at least comforting to know that Tom Brady is having a nice day.

On Friday morning, the 42-year-old former New England Patriot quarterback announced on Instagram that he has signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a deal worth a reported $60 million

“I’m starting a new football journey and thankful for the Buccaneers for giving me the opportunity to do what I love to do,” said the six-time Super Bowl champion in the post.  “I have always believed that well done is better than well said. So I’m not gonna say much more... I’m gonna get to work. #Year1.”

It's pretty wild that in the span of just a few coronavirus news cycles, Tampa Bay has all but lost an XFL team and gained a legendary NFL quarterback. The pandemic works in mysterious ways.

No details on his contract have been revealed, but it’s clear by the enormous smile on his face that this is probably one hell of a contract.

So, as a local resident stuck in quarantine, eating leftover Dominos and using coffee filters as toilet paper, I’d like to personally welcome you to Tampa Bay, Tom.
