Tampa Theatre turns 80 this year, which gives the public yet another a reason to tour the decorative theater and enjoy a trio of celebrations that promise to transport attendees to 1926.
The 80th Anniversary Ruby Jubilee opens Saturday with a black-tie patron reception. For donations ranging from $400 to $10,000, patrons enjoy cocktails, a silent auction, and a multi-course meal by Mise en Place as well as admission to the after hours Speakeasy. The prohibition-themed Speakeasy features dessert, wine and beer, and dancing under the theater's starry night sky ($40). Finally, Sunday's Birthday Party closes out the weekend with family-friendly entertainment, a giant birthday cake, refreshments and more ($2.50 per person). If their open house a few weeks ago was any indication, expect interaction with 1920s-era characters.
