Stan Lee is coming to Tampa for MegaCon on September 29. This is the one time I can say "thanks a lot, Irma" and not be sarcastic, although I'd never wish what Florida's been through on anyone, even for Stan Lee.

Here's what's happening: To support Hurricane Irma relief efforts, Stan Lee will meet fans and auction off bits of himself (not literally, chill, people). Anyone in the room for his Sept. 29 panel can bid on "experiences and items that money cannot buy," according to a press release sent from MegaCon's HQ Thursday afternoon. Those experiences and items include a one-on-one meal with Lee and artwork from his personal collection. Lee will appear at MegaCon all three days.

MegaCon will donate $5 for the first 2,000 tickets it sells here after 1 p.m. on Sept. 14 to Feeding Florida. Feeding Florida connects food banks across the state — locally, Feeding Tampa Bay is part of this network — that provide families impacted by this week's hurricane with food and emergency supplies like bleach, toothpaste and personal hygiene items, and paper goods. Disaster relief from Feeding Florida includes a network of over 160 trucks, more than 20 warehouses and 500,000-plus feet of warehouse space, all staged throughout the state (although most likely in areas hit hardest by Irma right now) and stocked with water, food and other disaster-related supplies.

“Florida is in need of some cheering up and what better person to do that than the one and only Stan Lee!" Andrew Moyes, Vice President of FanExpo HQ, said in that same press release. "We are excited to be bringing Stan to Tampa Bay for the first time and to work with him to support those communities impacted by Hurricane Irma.”

Between the auction items and the fans who buy those 2,000 tickets, MegaCon expects to raise roughly $20,000 for Feeding Florida.

“The generous support of the MegaCon Tampa Bay community will allow Feeding Florida to provide necessary supplies to our families directly impacted by Hurricane Irma,” Robin Safley, Executive Director of the Feeding Florida, said. “Partnerships like this allow our statewide network of food banks to continue to support every community and provide many of the front-line services required during response and recovery efforts.”
