Funny Filipino plays on February 16.

I’ve always thought that my titos and titas were funny people, but seeing Jo Koy on Netflix made me believe that Filipinos could also be hilarious outside of the sketch comedy most of my country people watch on ABS-CBN (one of the Philippines’ biggest TV networks). The 47-year-old Fil-Am (Filipino-American) just recorded a forthcoming special at Honolulu’s Blaisdell Arena, and he brings his “Break the Mold” tour to downtown’s gorgeous historic theater.

Jo Koy. Sat. Feb. 16, 7 p.m. $38.50-$48.50. Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa. 7 p.m. tampatheatre.org.
