The Gaelic festival of Lughnasa celebrates a drunken pagan god of revelry and dancing. This is not another night at The Castle in Ybor, but a Shimberg Playhouse production of a Brian Friel play — Dancing at Lughnasa — set in a small Irish village where an illegitimate son has a troubling summer involving Catholic women and shrieking banshees.

Shimberg PlayhouseStraz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N. WC MacInnes Place, Tampa. Previews: June 13-14, 8 p.m. $18. June 15, Opening: June 15. Through July 8: Thurs.-Sat., 8 p.m.; Sun., 4 p.m. $29.50 and up, based on demand. 813-229-7827, jobsitetheater.org.
