Okay, if you’re not going to observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s day to honor the late civil rights leader’s legacy, then just have fun in his name during one of the many fun, enlightening and badass events presented in conjunction with Keeping the Dream Alive: Something for Everyone 10-day celebration that began Jan 12 and continues through Jan. 21.

What’s that — did I say badass? Yes. Is there a more sufficient adjective for an event as smooth and dazzling as the Soul Roll Invitational? The three-day wheel deal continues today, featuring competitions, all-skates, mixers and other cool stuff at Skateworld, 7510 Paula Drive, Town & Country. Admission is $13. Full schedule here.

Celebrate the life of America's greatest civil rights leader during Tampa's 22nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade at noon. The parade begins at 15th Street and MLK Boulevard and ends at Middleton High School.

St. Pete's 27th Annual MLK Drum Major for Justice National Parade, the all-out honorary and celebratory procession begins at 11 a.m. at Third Avenue S and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and then proceeds north to Central Avenue, east to Bayshore Drive NE, and north to Fifth Avenue NE, disbanding at Vinoy Park. In addition, today's festivities in St. Pete include the MLK Holiday and Legacy Association's Drum Major for Justice awards banquet and band festival. mlknationalparade.org

In observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Glazer Children’s Museum is offering a $3 MLK Day Discount Day on admission, focusing programming on “The Dream” and invites all families to come and make it a fun-filled day. $3. glazermuseum.org.

On Tuesday, observe the beauty and presence of the black woman, brought to fore with sophisticated and subtle concealment. HCC Gallery 221 presents Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats, featuring the stunning photographs of Michael Cunningham. Slide show with artist talk at 3 p.m.; artist reception is 6-9 p.m. with remarks at 7:30 p.m. Gallery 221 is on the second floor of the Learning Resource Center at the college’s Dale Mabry campus.
