The Redemption of Rube Moats heads into its final weekend. Have you seen it? Lab Theater Company's producing this new play from A.J. Delauder, and yes, it's about baseball, but it's not really about baseball, you know?

It's the summer of 1917. There's a world war going on — although, of course, we aren't calling it World War I yet, because we were optimists back then — and Rube Moats, described as a "former aspiring baseball player" (sounds tragic, doesn't it?), sets up a baseball tryout for his kid brother, Tucker. Tucker doesn't make the team; instead, he and his best friend go off to war. His older brother has to deal with the events that follow. No, we won't tell you what they are. You have to go see the play.

The Redemption of Rube Moats | Silver Meteor Gallery, 2213 E. 6th Ave., Ybor City | Through Nov. 18: Fri.-Sat,, 8 p.m.; Sun., 2 p.m. | $15 | Email Lab Theater Project for tickets or buy them online
