Love Doctors at it again for New World Brewery Spring Fling April 4

Charlie Doan and David Waterman invite you to share your deepest or funniest love stories, songs or skits at “The Love Doctors Present: Spring Fling” at New World Brewery Saturday, April 4.

The Love Doctors, Doan and Waterman, individually are comedy magic but when their forces are joined they form a comedic super team, like Tampa’s own Laurel and Hardy, Rogen and Franco or Sophia Grace and Rosie.

Doan, a longtime Tampa bartender, artist and current Ybor City Ghost Tour Guide, and Waterman, a voice-over artist and Renaissance fair Gravedigger Dug Canbury, have years of experience entertaining the Bay area and will be bringing puppets along this time to help.

The Love Doctors are sure that everyone has a story in them and sent an encouraging word to someone who was unsure about performing.

“(Do) a song, some poetry, maybe read from that journal you kept when you were 11 years old at Summer camp about Jimmie Lebinowitz and how cute you think he is and that it was okay when he ran away after trying to kiss you on the trampoline because he had diarrhea, you thought, “Hey, it's Summer Camp, EVERYBODY'S got diarrhea."

Performers are asked to keep their acts under 10 minutes; Walk-ups are welcome if space is available but they prefer you sign up for a slot prior at the event’s Facebook page. So get out that eighth grade diary, and finally get that unrequited love out of your system. You can do better anyway.

Free, 8 p.m., Sat. April 4, New World Brewery, 1313 Eighth Ave., Ybor City.
