Moments Awake

If you’ve ever fantasized about a stranger on the subway (or in the next car on the Howard Frankland), Moments Awake should strike a chord. It’s about “parallel daydreams”: a man and a woman see each other on a subway platform and we watch each of their respective fantasies unfold (his, about a life together; hers, about a one-night stand). The artistic team is impressive: Music and lyrics are by versatile actor/singer/songwriters Danny Tieger (Matilda the Musical) and Matt Schwartz (a recent L.A.-to-St. Pete transplant); the script is by TV vet Annie Mebane (The Goldbergs, Community); and the all-star local cast includes Allison Burns, Justin Lore, Kylin Brady, Charlotte Pickard, Sharon Scott, and Jim Sorensen. Bob Devin Jones, the man who always says yes, said yes as soon as he heard about this project; he’s directing. Read an interview with Schwartz at cltampa.com/arts.
