NY Export: Opus Jazz opens in limited release Friday. The film aired earlier this year on PBS' Great Performance series, and for those that don't live in NYC the film is available on DVD here.

Yesterday the Federal Reserve announced an experimental $600 billion stimulus plan. NPR's Planet Money and Slate have managed to translate The Fed's statement into English for us common folk.

The Playlist finds an early poster for Terrence Malick's The Tree Of Life, as well as a teaser poster for the Mel Gibson "comeback" vehicle The Beaver.

Diane Ravitch gives a devastating critique of Davis Guggenheim's doc Waiting for "Superman" in her piece The Myth of Charter Schools.  Then the New York Times discovered that one of the pivotal scenes in the film was re-staged and re-shot after the actual event happened.
