Never mind Whisker Wars — all hail to the 'stache!

The award recognizes the person who has best represented or contributed to the "Mustached American community" during the past year.


Nominees for 2011 will likely include Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Keidis, green blogger Joel Makower, Milwaukee Brewers pitcher John Axford, astronaut Mark Kelly as well as "regular Joes with compelling stories."


Nominations are being taken on the AMI site, and voting for finalists will being Oct. 10.


Also, on Sept. 29, AMI will announce the findings of our two year "America's Most Mustache-Friendly City."

The American Mustache Institute (yes, there is such a thing) opened nominations for the Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year.
