Co-curated by Amanda Poss and Phillip A. Townsend, “What Lies Beyond” at [email protected] presents the coeval works by artists Ashley Ortiz-Diaz and Janelle Young that explores different understandings of matter, materials, and what lies beyond one's perception of the known world.
Young earned her MFA from the University of Georgia in 2016 and maintains a particular emphasis on photography, while Ortiz-Diaz, a 2019 MFA graduate from the University of Florida, focuses on textural work that is often layered with a variety of media. Together, these artists explore physical expanses and psychological typographies, questioning the boundaries of known vs. unknown.
What Lies Beyond: Ashley Ortiz-Diaz & Janelle Young. Open until Nov. 21 (reception and panel discussion Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.). [email protected] (Dale Mabry Campus), 4001 W. Tampa Bay Blvd. Tampa. Free to attend. hccfl.edu.
