On the Radar: The Red Show at HCC Ybor

Welcome to On the Radar, where we preview upcoming events to mark your calendar for. Fiber artists spanning both sides of the Bay will converge on the HCC Ybor School of Visual and Performing Arts Gallery this month for The Red Show.

No, it's not a tribute to communism. Or the late Red Buttons. Nor even '80s British soul crooners Simply Red. Instead, artists will layer various shades of red — scarlet, rose, wine, cherry, you name it — to cloth, designing complex art works that create meaning through color. The exhibit runs Aug.3 through Aug. 23, with an opening reception at 5 p.m. next Thursday, Aug. 5.
