Ah, so much better to get a decisive, convincing and ass-whupping victory instead of a nail-biter after one in the morning. The Rays rocked the Halos big time Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning in contrast to the down-to-the-wire outing the game prior. Wade Davis got the start for Tampa Bay, looking to improve upon his 9-9 record. Fresh off the Disabled List, the young righty looked good in his first inning, retiring the first three batters he faced, including striking out Bobby Abreu and Alberto Callaspo.
The Rays got four quick runs again Tuesday night in the second inning. Carlos Pena got aboard with a walk and he moved to third base on a single from Matt Joyce. Dan Johnson then doubled, scoring Pena and moving Joyce to third. B.J. Upton walked to load the bases before Jason Bartlett popped out to second. John Jaso drilled a single off the pitchers mound, scoring Joyce and Johnson; Upton moved to second on the play and stole third. Ben Zobrist drove a sac fly to shallow left field; Angels SS Erick Aybar must have thought it was the third out because Upton easily tagged up and scored from third. Jaso went to third base from first on the throw to home with no one covering third. The mental lapse allowed the Rays another run. Medical marijuana is legal in Calif. thats all Im saying.
