Becca McCoy’s clarion vocals and vibrant stage presence are big enough to carry to the back row of the theater — or to the farthest lawn chair in the park, in the case of American Stage in the Park’s Spamalot. But she’s such an accomplished performer that she can also captivate in a cabaret setting, finding the nuance and humor in American pop standards. So it’s exciting to report that she’s teaming up with the multi-talented jazz trio La Lucha for An Evening with Rosemary Clooney, a tribute to one of the best interpreters of popular song ever. The smoky-voiced Clooney could do it all — playful (“Come on-a My House”), wistful (“Tenderly”), swinging (“Mambo Italiano”) — and the pairing of McCoy and La Lucha promises to bring out all those qualities and more.
