St. Petersburg's Morean Arts Center unveils its 100th annual members exhibit
This is the year the Morean turns 100 — of course, it wasn't always called the Morean (it used to be the St. Petersburg Arts Center)  — and with 100 years of art comes 100 exhibits. For its 100th Members Art Show, the members exhibiting will all present work themed around "One Hundred" (makes sense, right?). The work will span the artistic spectrum and include media like clay, glass, painting and photography. As the exhibit continues, visitors can vote for their favorite and also take part in a visual scavenger hunt.

The annual members show is kind of a big deal at the Morean, who depends heavily on its members for all kinds of support.

“I love seeing how excited our members are at the opening, when they see their work hanging on wall in the gallery. For some, this is their very first gallery exhibition. I love the democratic feeling of the show. Our members range from professional, nationally-recognized artists, to first-timers, and they all hang together in the same gallery. It's pretty exciting to see the range of artistic talent that we have in our area," curator Amanda Cooper says.
