Tampa Bay Rays hosting free playoff watch parties in Tampa and St. Pete tonight

Because game 5 is in Houston.

The bandwagon is open, people, and the Tampa Bay Rays want you on it.

The team is in Houston tonight where it’ll face the Astros in an American League Division Series elimination game, and since you’re not headed to that much-nicer-covered-ballpark-named-after-orange-juice, the Rays are hosting watch parties in Tampa and St. Petersburg (click through links for additional details).

Sunshine City fans can get in on the action at Straub Park in downtown when “Movies In the Park” transitions into a giant watch party that kicks off with live music at 5:30 p.m., while Park & Rec welcomes the Rays street team to its official watch party kicking off at 5 p.m.

Tampa fans should head to Sparkman Wharf where Rays mascot Raymond gets the party started at 5 p.m.

Other unofficial St. Petersburg parties include a pair at Ferg’s Sports Bar & Grill and one at The Lure while WOB Westchase and Linksters Tap Room host parties in Tampa and Brandon.

I wonder how this affects the MLB’s TV ratings.

H/T to WUSF for digging the watch party info up.
