Tampa International Airport is on the hunt for local, national and even international artists to beef up its art installations. TIA has a hefty budget of $3.1 million.

Before you submit your ideas, here are some much-needed details.

That cash will be spread out over nine new pieces, with commissions running from $100,000 to $520,000 each. Still pretty impressive.

In a recent announcement, Airport Executive VP of Marketing and Communications Chris Minner described the impact the airport is hoping to have with these new works, wanting them to reflect Tampa Bay’s rich heritage and natural resources and celebrate our history as the birthplace of commercial aviation.

"Our recent public art installations bring joy to millions of passengers each year. We expect these new commissions to continue that legacy," Minner said in a statement.

If you are selected, you could take the tram over with your family and see the piece whenever you want with the new policy. Grab a brew and admire your handiwork along with the millions of passengers who come into contact with it daily.

The airport’s Public Art Committee, comprised of current and former airport officials, the big wigs from Tampa Museum of Art, Tampa City Hall's arts programs and University of South Florida's Institute for Research in Art, will assemble to select each new piece using a two-step process.

All artists need to send in their proposals by July 17 to make the initial list, which will be reviewed by the Hillsborough Aviation Authority board for approval. If you make the cut, the list of eligible artists will head to the Public Art Committee, which will evaluate proposals prior to getting the final stamp of approval by the Aviation Authority board.

Mark your calendar for June 10 at 3 p.m. for the information session being held in the Aviation Authority boardroom on the third floor of the main terminal.
