The Florida Dance Festival kicks it at USF

Much more than just beautiful bodies in motion.


Going strong for 36 years, the Florida Dance Festival is among Florida’s leading summer dance training programs and one of the top annual dance events in the southeastern United States.

Presented by the Florida Dance Association, the festival is now in its sixth year the at University of South Florida Tampa campus, offering beautiful bodies in motion that both challenge and inspire.

Pieces include Dark Lark by the Kate Weare Company, an erotic fantasy exploration; Sheetal Gandhi’s I Was Just … , a rhythmically charged performance that offers a response to the Ferguson tragedy (pictured above), and Fuzión Dance’s Mattress Suite by choreographer Larry Keigwin, artistic director of Keigwin + Company (New York). Fuzión is also celebrating its 10th anniversary at the event.

The performances, master classes and more take place June 19-27 at the University of South Florida's Blackbox Theatre, TAR 120, Tampa. Sheetal Gandhi performs June 20; Florida Dances, June 23; Kate Weare Company, June 26, and Festival Finale is June 27. floridadanceassociation.org/florida-dance-festival.
