This week, The James Museum of Western & Wildlife Art announced plans to join the Museums for All program. Through this program, The James Museum now offers free admission to SNAP EBT participants and their families by showing a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
Last summer Tampa's Museum of Art also started offering free admission to anyone on food assistance. Other local museums that are part of the program include St. Pete's Morean Arts Center and Great Explorations Children's Museum, plus the Tampa Bay History Center and Glazer Children's Museum in downtown Tampa. The Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in north Tampa is also a member.
Museums for All is a national, branded access program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits. According to the program's website, the cost of museum admission can be a barrier for many low-income families.
Through Museums for All, free or reduced admission is available to eligible members of the public at more than 500 museums across the country. Thanks to Museums for All has benefitted more than 2.5 million visitors since its inception in 2014.
