TIGLFF Review: Hot Guys with Guns

Not quite as aggressively sexploitational as the title makes it sounds, Hot Guys is part noir takeoff, part buddy comedy, part satirical dissection of a certain strata of A-Gay Hollywood. Brian McArdle and Marc Anthony Samuel make a cute if not particularly credible couple — spoiled rich party boy Pip and poor aspiring actor Danny — who turn amateur private eye when they investigate a series of robberies at private sex parties. Writer/director Doug Spearman makes some barbed observations about race and class, gets a nice performance from Alan Blumenfeld as a crusty P.I., and lets Joan Ryan go way over the top as Pip’s over-bearing lush of a mother. Sat. Oct. 5, 9:45 p.m., Tampa Theatre.
