Top LGBT weekend happenings


Ladies, get ready for Tampa’s premier women’s happy hour. Sophistique will take over at Tampa’s City Side, 3703 Henderson Blvd., Friday, June 13, 6 to 9 p.m. Sponsored by TWIRLGIRL Events & Promotions, the evening will a performance by musician Jennifer Real.

Trashtastic cabaret duo Coco & Homo host their Friday the 13th Ca-BAR-et show at the Brewers Tasting Room, 11270 4th St. N., St. Pete, Friday, June 13, 7 p.m. This free event features rollicking songs, drinking games, craft beer and chubby bunnies for all. Free admission.

Local women can enjoy some “Family Time” on Saturday, June 14, 3 p.m., at Riviera Estates, 29141 U.S. Highway 19, Clearwater. This drama-free pool party is rain or shine and will include games, swimming and a movie at the end the day. Come early to have some fun in the water or play volleyball. Pizza will be ordered around 5:30 p.m. At dark, catch the movie “Best Night Ever.” Bring your own drinks, pool floats, towel, blankets and snacks.

Community Café hosts an afternoon of LGBTA speed dating Saturday, June 14 that’s open to everyone of all sexual orientations. The social hour takes place from 4 to 5 p.m., and the speed dating round begins promptly at 5 p.m. You can register here to guarantee your spot, and if you choose, include your gender identity, sexuality and even a spectrum of attributes you’re attracted to — from very masculine to androgynous to very feminine and everything in between. Community Cafe is located at 2444 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg.

St. Petersburg’s ARTpool Gallery celebrates Pride month in the most fashionable way possible — with a fabulous True Love Art Party and Rainbow Fashion Show on Saturday, June 14, 8 p.m. to midnight. Royal Vynes will perform and local artists will showcase their work. Tickets are $10, both in advance and at the door. ARTpool is located at 2030 Central Ave.

Flamingo Resort in St. Pete has a busy weekend ahead. Saturday, June 14, is their Togas & Gladiators Party, including a costume contest and drag shows at 11 p.m. and midnight. The party starts at 9 p.m.

Then it kicks off the summer its first Wet ‘N Wild Sunday of the season on June 15. There will be giant waterslides and $10 Don Q and Bacardi buckets.
