A little taste of Tokyo is making its way to Treasure Island.

Tampa Bay is now home to its first-ever Japan-inspired claw machine arcade, which opened to the public in early February.

Unlike traditional arcades you grew up with, Atomic Claw isn’t designed to leave you empty handed. Located at 245 107th Ave., in the former Treasure Island & Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce building, the arcade provides a variety of themed prizes promising something for every player.

With over 40 claw machines, guests have the opportunity to in all their favorite classic arcade toys. Inside these machines are stuffed animals from various cartoons and kids shows, with videos on the arcade’s social media saying games are $1-$2.

Arcade owner, James Austin, was motivated to open his own arcade after a trip to Japan. “They’re everywhere,” Austin told Sean Daly.

James also owns the Super Scoops ice cream parlor next door.

The “clawcade” is also available to host birthday parties and private events. You can check out specific hours or make a reservation on its website.
