ABC Action News reported last night that Rays fan fave Rocco Baldelli has a form of muscular dystrophy. He spoke with the station's anchor Wendy Ryan last night about it. I haven't seen any other media pick up on this; it was already known that he had a problem with muscle weakness (most media reported that he was sidelined with a "muscle disorder," but this is the first time I've seen the ballplayer give his diagnosis a name.
UPDATE: Subsequent to the ABC story, Baldelli's doctor told the St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin that the report was "erroneous" — that Baldelli is being treated for "mitochondrial myopathy, not muscular dystrophy." See Topkin's blog here.
