You may remember your seventh grade typing class with dread — or you may remember it as an easy A — but no matter how you feel about Mrs. Crider and her typing notebook, you have to acknowledge moveable type has changed the world. As in, if you can read a Bible, the US Constitution or your marriage license, thank a typewriter. Sure, they're not as common as they once were, but you can still celebrate their glory on World Typewriter Day, a celebration of the day the typewriter received its first patent. Randy Rosenthal, of Tampa Type, will be on hand to talk typewriters, then you can try your hand on typewriters dating as far back as 1920s.
