XFC 11 at the St. Pete Times Forum features "next generation" of MMA fighters

An exciting women's bout between MMA legend Randy Couture's ex-wife, Kim "Sugar Free" Couture, and XFC tryout winner, Marianna Kheyfets, will definitely heat things up in the co-main event of the evening. Although Couture has more experience with two wins and two losses on her record the debuting Kheyfets impressed XFC President John Prisco at the tryouts with her kickboxing talent and amazing stamina. Expect fireworks when these two ladies meet in the cage.

The main event features Bruce "The Noose" Connors and Micah Miller in the final bout of the evening. Connors is coming off a two-fight win streak and will no doubt try to use his success momentum along with his excellent submission skills against Miller who suffered a decision-loss against Michihiro Omigawa last April. Don't count Miller out yet though, as he has proven to be a well-rounded MMA fighter who can excel on the ground as well as in stand up (eight submission wins and four TKO wins).

The Tampa-based mixed martial arts promotion, Xtreme Fighting Championships, returns to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa July 9 with The Next Generation of XFC fighters on a 10-bout card that is loaded with impressive MMA talent from around the U.S. and even South Africa.

In accordance with the event theme, six of the 20 fighters who are scheduled to square off in the XFC cage in three weeks earned their spots on this card by winning XFC Fighter Tryouts at various locations: Chris Barnett (4-0), Julio Gallegos (4-0), Julien Williams (1-1), Ian Stephens (pro debut), Ryan Quinn (3-1) and Marianna Kheyfets (pro debut).

Proving themselves in front of a local audience while making their national television debut on HD Net during the live broadcast of the fights turns this opportunity into the chance of a lifetime for them, which in turn will no doubt result in exciting performances.

One international fighter, Jeremy "The Pitbull" Smith, will make his way to Tampa all the way from South Africa after winning the affiliate promotion's XFC Africa Fighter Tryouts and emerging victorious from his pro debut. In his U.S. debut he will take on Victor O'Donnell from Cincinnati, Ohio.
