Bill DeYoung

Bill DeYoung was born in St. Pete and spent the first 22 years of his life here. After a long time as an arts and entertainment journalist at newspapers around Florida (plus one in Savannah, Ga.) he returned to his hometown in 2014.

You’ll find his liner notes in more than 100 CDs by a wide range of artists including Cat Stevens, Chicago, .38 Special, Steve Winwood, B.B. King, Rickie Lee Jones, Stephen Stills, Rick Wakeman, Bell Biv DeVoe and Black Oak Arkansas.

He is the author of Skyway: The True Story of Tampa Bay’s Signature Bridge and the Man Who Brought it Down and the forthcoming Phil Gernhard, Record Man.

Currently an independent publicist and freelance writer, Bill’s favorite artists are the Beatles, pre-contemporary Neil Young, Jethro Tull and Crowded House. And he’s more of a cat than a dog person.
