Kevin Cate a media consultant for Fried’s campaign indicated they were surprised to see her polling ahead of Crist.

Fried continued a pattern of positioning herself as a foil to DeSantis’ handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fried said she was spurred to action given the recent uptick in Florida’s COVID-19 cases.

All fifty states are represented in DeSantis’ 2021 fundraising to date, plus the Virgin Islands.

DeSantis’ condemnation comes two days after the South Florida demonstrations and after DeSantis said protests in Cuba were a “much different situation” than Black Lives Matter protests over the summer.

Some Democratic politicians, including Rep. Anna V. Eskamani, have said DeSantis’ support for the protesters in Cuba is hypocritical because he supported House Bill 1.

Speakers at the event referred to those arrested as “political prisoners.”

Jones used Instagram to make her announcement after being suspended from Twitter.

“I have no doubt that this piece of legislation was for the sole purpose of trying to ensure a reelect for him in 2022, to only run for President in 2024,” Fried said.
