U.S. Department of Justice attorneys filed a brief Monday that said, in part, recent developments “further undermine” the state’s arguments that a preliminary injunction is needed to block the restrictions.

The bill was one of five sent to DeSantis’ desk on Wednesday. He has 15 days to act on the bills.

“Unlike some in Washington, I never tire in standing up for what I believe is right because no one is above the law.”

The state recently launched a website to let you know which items are exempt from government overreach.

Under the law, which takes effect July 1, contributions to political committees backing initiatives would be limited to $3,000.

The bills that DeSantis signed Monday were unanimously approved by lawmakers during the legislative session that ended April 30.

The new laws include the creation of a 10-member task force to study unmarked and abandoned African-American cemeteries (HB 37).

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, backed by DeSantis, filed the lawsuit in April challenging restrictions imposed by the CDC that have idled cruise ships.

“We feel like we have no choice. We have to try, we have to try to convince the governor that this is the wrong move,” said Rich Templin, legislative policy director for the Florida AFL-CIO

Union President Andrew Spar said in a statement last week that Florida students deserve the “truest and most inclusive picture of their world and our shared history.”

In a prepared statement Wednesday, Moody said Biden’s decision threatens jobs, including in Florida.

“The Orlando community right now is bracing for the five-year remembrance, and for Gov. DeSantis to veto funding for Pulse survivors and families is just cruel.”
