Union President Andrew Spar said in a statement last week that Florida students deserve the “truest and most inclusive picture of their world and our shared history.”
The bill also would offer “buy-one-get-one-free” courses to students pursuing degrees in high-demand fields such as science, math and engineering at state universities.
John Mower, public policy director for the LGBTQ advocacy organization Equality Florida, said the Senate measure “could compel schools to out LGBTQ youth.”
