BEST LOCAL MUSIC SCENE STALWART: Natty Moss Bond

BEST LOCAL MUSIC SCENE STALWART: Natty Moss Bond

Let’s start with her smile — a beacon, a radiant force. That smile is a window into Natty’s altruistic concern for the local scene. She turns up at all sorts of shows, kibitzes with scenesters and fellow musicians. She’s more than willing to lend a hand at a charity gig, or sing backup on a recording session. She’s even been known to mediate disputes. You might think that an artist who’s contributed more than two decades to Bay area music might want to dial back her involvement, but Natty has not strayed from the course. She organizes a regular Ladies Night (Thursdays) at Dave’s Aqua Lounge in St. Pete. It’s a living-room-style night of roots music that showcases her and other local women artists — and a few fellas, too. Let’s sum it up this way: When Natty walks into a club, it immediately becomes a better place. Oh, and make sure you hear her sing.
