Best Of 2007

He’s an ordained minister, rock musician, antiwar activist, homeless advocate, prison reformer and fierce critic of everything govern-ment. Bruce Wright of St. Pete’s Refuge Ministries minces no words when it comes to government’s ineptness and is quick to hold a protest or march in downtown St. Pete to tell the rest of the city. Even among lefty circles, Wright can be a divisive force, most recently during the tent city crisis that pitted Wright and his supporters against brick-and-mortar homeless shelters and social service agencies. But as long there’s a perceived attack on the poor in St. Pete, you can expect the 57-year-old rabble-rouser will be out there agitating.
