BEST IN INSTALLATION: Experimental Skeleton

In March, just as city budget cuts seemed to spell the end of their subsidized stay in downtown Tampa’s historic train station, artist collaborative Experimental Skeleton pulled off one of the most thought-provoking installations ever to grace their space. Rediviva, inspired by the 2003 disintegration of the space shuttle Columbia over Texas, assembled more than a dozen sculptural interpretations of the accident’s fallout, from the literal to the metaphorical. Since Experimental Skeleton managed to renegotiate a favorable lease with the city at the same time, we’ll look forward to seeing more exhibits of work — by both ES and guest artists — downtown.
