BEST BURGER HAIKU: Tie: Ian Blenke and Joe Bardi

While sifting through 64 local burgers for 2008’s Burger Tournament, our food critic sent out a plaintive plea for some brief, elegant words to characterize the burger experience. Over 70 entries later, two emerged supreme, both vastly more poetic than almost any burger we tried:

"To spite fork and spoon/ The cow jumped over the moon/ Ruminant eclipse" —Ian Blenke

"Poor cow had to die/ So that I might eat dinner/ What is for dessert?" —Joe Bardi
