BEST PLACE TO FURNISH YOUR BEACH HOUSE: Magnolia

“Relax, you’re at Magnolia,” says the big chalkboard sign behind the counter at this Hyde Park home furnishings boutique, and the suggested vacation vibe carries throughout. If you have a beach house, or are just pretending you do, this is the place to go for nautical but non-kitschy accessories: picture frames made of wood from salvaged boats; vintage bottles with opalescent seashells soldered to the top; a hand-knit alpaca octopus (part of a small but charming kids’ section); coral, shells, starfish galore; sofas and pillows in soothing beiges and sea greens. The store’s not all about the beach, though; it’s also a great local outlet for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams furniture, Chilewich placemats, Jonathan Adler pottery and one-of-a-kind lighting fixtures. 303 S.
