BEST USE OF THE WORD “BEADS”: Gayle Guyardo

The annual Gasparilla Parade is a bacchanal for participants and crowd alike. But many viewers of the coverage on Newschannel 8 wondered if parade co-anchor Gayle Guyardo had a few too many pulls at the bottle herself during a slurred, rambling parade commentary in which she strung out the word “beads” to, like, 15 seconds. Oh, and she repeatedly called her co-anchor Bill Ratliff “a hottie,” attempted to pronounce “conquistadores” numerous times, and trotted out an outrageously bad-funny Irish accent at one point. Guyardo and Ratliff swore she was sober and blamed the erratic performance on Guyardo having a severe case of the flu. Her station stood by her. (She probably greased the GM by bringing him back some “beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeddddzzzz.”)
