More than 300,000 people essentially decided this one. That's the annual number of users of the Upper Tampa Bay Trail in Citrus Park. The seven-mile path provides a scenic backdrop as walkers, joggers, bikers, Rollerbladers and skaters make their way along the trail from Memorial Highway up through northwest Hillsborough County. You will get good glimpses of wildlife and waterways, the trail has first-class facilities for those always necessary pit stops, and local eateries give people a chance to grab a quality bite to eat along the way. The 12-foot-wide paved path will get happier now that a $3.8-million extension was approved in August by the Hillsborough County Commission. Slated to be opened sometime in 2014, the 4.3-mile addition will connect the trail with the Suncoast Trail.
