Tired of battling the police in Curtis Hixon, the group took up the offer from Joe Redner to bring their encampment to Freedom Park, his privately owned facility in West Tampa. The group fell off the map in terms of visibility, and tensions grew with some local neighbors, leading the city’s legal department to dig up research that found it was against a zoning ordinance to allow camping in the park. As one former Occupy member said of moving to VOFA, “We got played.”
