Best repeat performance: Gasparilla Music Festival

Lord Huron at the second annual GMF.

The sky was overcast to start the day, but the weather held for the second annual GMF this March, drawing upwards of 9,000 local folks to Kiley Gardens and Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa. Kiley was put to full use with a ‘Tibbetts' Corner’ that encompassed a fourth ground-level stage, arts and goods vendors, and a tented beer garden with on-tap crafts by local breweries. The grounds boasted more tent-shaded areas overall, plenty of delicious eats were offered by local indie food purveyors and trucks, and the contented vibe that prevailed the year before was restored in full force, making for another fulfilling day of music, food, brews and community. The third GMF spreads to two days and is expected to bring even bigger national acts to the GMF stage March 8-9, 2014.
