Best show for selfies: JAUME PLENSA: HUMAN LANDSCAPE, TAMPA MUSEUM OF ART

Best show for selfies

Long before you could catch Pokémon in museums all over the world, taking a selfie in front of your favorite masterpiece was a popular way to connect with artwork. Plensa’s exhibition was full of temptations to do just that; his sculptures, with their flattened and skewed proportions, asked us to approach the “everydayness” of humanity and beauty with refreshed importance, and viewers found the chance to take self-portraits with them  to be irresistible. The favorite selfie spot in this blockbuster show? The cave-like openings at the bases of The Soul of Words I and II — great little grottos that not only protected you from the sun, but also provided excellent photoshoot potential. tampamuseum.org. —Caitlin Albritton
