Best non-highway-related Tampa traffic balls-up

You don’t install prettified lane-closing medians on an already-congested thoroughfare through an iffy neighborhood into an in-transition tourist destination in the name of public safety. You do that shit because the iffy neighborhood is about to be significantly less iffy. So what if it makes people late for work and school and generally fucks up a voluminous flow of traffic that’s only going to increase? Interesting that there’s nearly nothing searchable on this “improvement” beyond a February post on the Tampa Heights Civic Association’s Facebook page that uses the so-perfect-it’s-nauseating term “road diet.” Good idea, wrong location. —Scott Harrell
